How to View Quote Summary
Discover key insights and concise summaries of notable quotes to enhance your understanding and inspire your thinking.
Introduction
The Summarize tab in Edit Quote allows you to create a summary quote by grouping selected quote items into one or more packages. This is commonly used to present a simplified, customer-friendly version of a quote while retaining detailed line items in the background.
A summary quote can be created automatically through Quote detail page or manually through console, giving you control over which items are included and how they are packaged.
What Is a Summary Quote?
A summary quote consolidates selected quote items into packages and calculates pricing, discounts, and margins at the package level.
Unlike an automatic summary, a manual summary quote lets you explicitly choose:
- Which items to include
- How items are grouped into packages
- How the summarized pricing is presented
PqW supports two types of summary quotes:
- Standard (Automatic) Summary Quote
- Manual Summary Quote
Prerequisite
Before creating a summary quote, ensure that:
- The required quote items are already added to the quote
- You understand how items should be grouped for customer presentation
Standard (Automatic) Summary Quote
A standard summary quote is automatically generated by the system. It summarizes all quote items using system-defined grouping rules and does not require manual package creation.
This option is ideal when you want a quick, high-level summary without customizing packages.
Creating and Viewing a Standard (Automatic) Summary Quote
Step 1: Open the Quote in Edit Mode
- Open the required quote from Quote list.

- Select Summary Quote from Action dropdown to open Summary Creation window.

Step 2: Create Auto Summary Quote
- In the Summary window, you can see the original quote name and Auto Summary button as shown below.

- Click on Auto Summary button to view generate a quote summary with default settings.

- At this stage, the system automatically treats all quote items as part of the summary. You can identify from Quote type whether it is standard quote or summary quote

Step 3: Use the Standard Summary for Review or Navigation
From the Summarize tab, you can:
- Review overall pricing and margins
- Navigate back to Edit Quote for changes
- Proceed to export or print actions (based on permissions)
- Any changes made later in Edit Quote are automatically reflected when you return to the Summarize tab.
Manual Summary Quote
A manual summary quote allows you to explicitly control which quote items are included and how they are grouped into packages. This is useful for customer-specific or solution-based presentations.
